"Gladys Friday" is preparing for Easter Sunday Dinner with her family right after church on Sunday. She reflects on the first holiday meal she prepared as a newlywed. Her husband was excited that her parents and grandparents would all be together for the first time with his entire family.
"Gladys" was busy in the kitchen, preparing to cook the ham. He watched as she cut off a portion of the ham and throw it into the trash & place the ham into the pan and then the oven. Very confused, he asked her, "why did you cut part of the ham off and throw it away?" "Gladys" said......"because that's the way my Mother did it."
So he decided to ask her Mother during dinner and SHE said...."well, that's the way MY Mother did it."
He was really confused and just had to know then, so wanting to solve the mystery he asked the grandmother....."why did YOU cut part of the ham off and throw it away?" and she explained...."well sweetie, WE never had a PAN LARGE ENOUGH to cook a WHOLE HAM!!!"
Enjoy your Easter Holiday with your family, ASK lots of questions, listen a little longer and LOVE each other a little bit stronger.
I often wonder what disease the "cured ham" had anyway, don't you?
Don't forget to LOVE, LIVE and LAUGH OUT LOUD! Just remember the REAL reason for Easter ~ there is NO GREATER LOVE.
