"Geri-berry"

Good morning! I'm "Gladys Friday!"

I want to tell you about a new invention for "us mature folk." My friend, "GG" has heard all about the "Blackberry" (phone) so she has invented her own.....calling it the "Geri-berry"

She has a string around her neck and at the end of the string is a sticky note pad along with a pen hanging from the string. Whenever she takes a phone call, she makes her notes, whenever she thinks of something she needs to do, i.e. grocery list, hair-do, etc. she writes it down and "sticks it" where she will remember. Now, if she could JUST REMEMBER WHERE SHE STUCK IT!

Have a great day.....and Memorial Weekend! Let's all be "Gladys Friday" today!

"Elderly?"

Well, good morning!
An "elderly" lady with a very big smile was in our office this week. We couldn't help but notice how happy she seemed, smiling at everyone. We asked her secret to happiness.....she said "well, I think it's because I smoke 2 packs of cigarettes a day and drink a six pack EVERY DAY"! We were SHOCKED! We asked her age......she is 34 years old.....and smiling.
I'm "Gladys Friday".........aren't you?
Have a wonderful day!

Jordan's accident

"Gladys Friday" has a new appreciation for being "glad it's Friday"  On Monday of this week, May 4th my wonderful 18 year old grandson, Jordan had a horrible auto accident after work.   It was pouring  rain.  Fortunately,  a good samaritan saw the car that was smashed into a tree, they turned around and discovered him.  He was coherent enough to tell her his Mom's phone number and speak to her long enough to say "it hurts real bad Mom."  My daughter, Julie called and we met at the hospital, actually arriving before the ambulance......yet hearing them roar.  It was a very very scary time.

One of the fireman that helped cut him out of the car said "Jesus was in the car with that young man, no one could have survived that alone."  He is exactly right.  Seeing the pictures bring tears each time.  The engine is on the interior of the car, the dash on the outside.  The steering wheel is broken, the passenger seat is in the back seat.  Thank God no one was with him.

Jordan was taken to GMH where he was stabilized then transferred to CMC trauma unit in critical condition due to the extent of his injuries.  They had called for the helicopter but the weather was too bad.

His injuries include:
Concussion - could not remember anything about the accident or the entire week
Bruised brain - blood and spinal fluid
Pneumathorax
Fractured ribs
Liver laceration
Left wrist bones were broken - "broken off" per the physician
Right ankle bones were broken
There was a deep gash on his leg from the engine
There was fluid in his abdomen - multiple injuries due to seat belt and air bags

He had surgery on Wednesday to repair the broken bones, plates and screws were placed.  He stood yesterday with the help of a brand new chrome walker with wheels and a cradle for his broken wrist.  He took two steps today to move to the chair in the hospital room.  He is making incredible progress......as a matter of fact.....

WE are extremely blessed and amazed to announce that "JORDAN CAME HOME TODAY!"

My family and I thank you for all of your prayers and concern.  We all know without a doubt who was in that car with him, the fireman was exactly right.  There is only ONE spot in that car that isn't smashed......he was in it.  My friend said "he was sitting on God's lap" and she is right!

He is "bummed" about his summer camp job.  He isn't sure if the doctor will let him work.   With the progress that he is making, he may just RUN THE SHOW!

Please continue to pray for him. He has a long road to recovery but he has Faith, a wonderful attitude, sense of humor (now I wonder where THAT came from?) and determination........along with a BIG dose of pain.  He is a survivor!  Thank you Jordan! Hang in there buddy.  Nana loves you!  We ALL love you!

Thank you again.....I am "Gladys Friday and glad it's Friday" because Jordan came home!

Hooray for the day.....it's Glady's Friday

A patient complained to the physician that his hands were shaking and it was really bothering him.  The physician asked "do you drink a lot?" The patient responded, "not really, most of it spills".

Moral of the story:  There will be times in life when you will need a straw.

Sorry for the late post today, "Gladys Friday" went (with Denise) to the NCMGM meeting at Myrtle Beach. Great place!
