True Story ~ I have titled "Sleeping Bills"

I wanted to share this true story by Denise Price Thomas (aka "Gladys Friday")

We had a man in the office that was causing a scene at the front desk. He was demanding to speak to the "person in charge!" so I was called for duty.

Patients in the lobby were fully tuned in to the man's conversation as he threw his hands around and voiced his opinion to everyone in a very loud, harsh tone (he was mean!).

"I CAN'T BELIEVE THE ANESTHESIOLOGIST CHARGED THIS MUCH JUST TO PUT ME TO SLEEP!!!!! THIS IS RIDICULOUS! NO WONDER HEALTHCARE IS IN SUCH A MESS!!! ALL HE DID WAS STICK A TUBE DOWN MY THROAT AND STAND THERE AND WATCH ME SLEEP! THEN I GET THIS BILL!!!! I'D LIKE TO GET PAID JUST TO WATCH SOMEBODY SLEEP!" (and on and on...told ya he was mean!)

I felt very sorry for his wife as she stood there, not saying a word and looking very embarrassed. After listening & standing patiently for quite some time....waiting for his fuse to burn down, I said....."Sir, I am very sorry that you feel that way, but please allow me to explain. Actually the physician did not charge you to PUT you to sleep.....he ONLY charged you to WAKE YOU UP.....do you think it was worth it? You are standing here today because he woke you up."

(Of course, I personally thought I should have asked his FAMILY members that question, thinking maybe his warranty was about to run out).

He made a partial payment without saying a word and stormed out of the office. His wife came right back in and said "Please talk to me BEFORE his NEXT surgery!!"

Some people LOOK for a reason to be unhappy when happiness is all around.

"LITTLE Debbie Cakes?"

It's a beautiful spring day and I was just noticing that "Gladys Friday" has "wintered well" ~ if you know what I mean. I believe I have eaten one (dozen) too many "LITTLE Debbie" cakes....the CAKES may be little but I must have an allergic reaction to them, I am swollen all over! I can't even get into my spring clothes.

So I signed up for exercise class at the gym. At the registration desk, they handed me a list of things to bring with me to class. On that list it said to be sure to "wear loose fitting clothes" ~ Well, if I HAD LOOSE FITTING CLOTHES, I WOULDN'T NEED TO BE THERE, NOW WOULD I?!?!?

I looked around and the rest of the ladies in the class were in about a size 2. So, after giving it much thought, I have decided to open my own exercise facility and call it: "Little Debbie's LARD LODGE" Sign up right after the "all you can eat buffet". The "call to exercise" theme song will begin to play when it's time to start class so please listen for ~ "BRICK HOUSE!"

I have been told that the older we get, the more brain cells we lose but the more fat cells we GAIN. I think I'm there.

Well, I'm "Gladys Friday" ~ hope you are too.

One month after the wedding ~

"Gladys Friday" was told by a friend, one month after her wedding that she had "2 slightly used items for sale" which are:

1) A complete set of encyclopedia Britannica ~ in excellent condition. They are no longer needed since she was married one month ago to the "PERSON THAT KNOWS EVERYTHING!"

2) A "slightly used" wedding gown, worn only once.....by mistake!

"All Natural"

I have been trying my best to take better care of myself lately. I have these mirrors in my house that I really do not like the pictures that I keep seeing. So, I have tried to go on a "natural food diet" which was working for a while, however every day when I get the newspaper and read the obituaries, I see that so many people are dying from "natural causes" that I am reverting back to the diet with the MOST preservatives.

I'm Gladys Friday, aren't you?

Lots of chrome and FAST ~

Aunt Vera had a birthday last week. She had told her husband that she wanted something brand new and shiny with lots of chrome that would go from 0 to 150 in seconds.

He bought her a new set of scales.

When he is released from the hospital and is able to stand on his own.....I imagine he will be weighing less on those new scales.....once they remove the wiring from his jaw.

Valentine's Present for "Gladys Friday"

I hope you all had a wonderful Valentine's Day. I'd like to tell you about mine. The night before Valentine's Day, my husband and I were watching TV just before going to bed at 8:30 pm when I said (to gently remind him) ~ "You know, I haven't had any flowers in a very long time."

Thinking that would be a nice clue and a gentle way to say......."hello in there, you may want to purchase flowers for the wife".

Well, I guess I should have made sure he had his hearing aids in when I mentioned it because the very next day he came through the kitchen door carrying a 5 lb bag of FLOUR! (good thing it was self rising!)

"Heavenly Cookies"

~ "Heavenly Cookies" ~

A friend told me of a man that had just a short time left here on this earth. He and his wife had a very long & happy marriage, she was always taking good care of him. He wanted to stay at his home for as long as he could during his last days and she granted his wish.

One day she was busy in the kitchen, baking his favorite chocolate chip cookies when the aroma just floated down the hallway into his room. With barely enough strength, he managed to pull himself out of bed and walk down to the kitchen.

Much to his surprise there in the kitchen, stacked up in boxes were his FAVORITE chocolate chip cookies ~ every square inch of the kitchen was covered. His very thoughtful wife was continuing to bake and package them. After watching her for a while with a smile on his face, he said in a very weak voice, "You are so kind to bake these for me" ...... when all of a sudden she turned around and in a very loud voice said,

"PUT THOSE BACK RIGHT NOW, THEY ARE FOR THE FUNERAL!!!"

Moral of this Friday Funny: Thoughtfulness is "heavenly" ~ don't ya think?
